google alter - press realise - newslaters

 NEWSLATER

I signed to SXSW newslater and I got one every week, since 29th January.
Carnival of Venice does not do newslater and on this field loses, not just only potencial atendees but it is valid to remind people with interest about event and keep them impatient.
SXSW newslater was keeping my mind at the event and even made me want to come next year! awesome guests, speaker, perfomances and topics  about music, film, technology, and buisness industry.

 GOOGLE ALTER

Google alter helped me realised how big diffenrence is between these two events I have chosen. They are from two diffent worldsAMERICA vs VENICE. Much better technological progress and  care about participants and guests is represents by SXSW .
So far I have received 350 google alters about SXSW and 5 link to the Carnival.

I also understand that SXSW is  more often on people mounths, news, newspapers, internet because of the accident that happend in the mid March at the conference. Sadly 4 people died....

 PRESS RELEASES

By using google alter and simply taping in GOOGLE name of events was easy to say  that Carnival of Venice looks 'poor' compering to SXSW.
You can find only basic info about Carnival of Venezia, small amount of any releases and PR mainly have done by atendees or local community (and I am talking about before, during and after the event happend).
In general ,Participants want to talk and share opinions, mainly good ones, about Carnival, they are making films and writing blogs about it:
VINOCONVISTABLOG
- MONICACESARATO blog
- CLAUDIO YT film
- INFONUMERIQUE

 ADVERTISING

SXSW has its own magazine SXSWorld where advertise SXSW as much as they want to.
Bilboards on Austin's street are onother form of advertise.

I did not find anything about Carnival of Venice. I suspect they have a few way to announce event in Venice but why not on the international market and audiance.

No TV adverts, no pop-up, no banners, no radio advert of any of those event. I would change it if I was an marketing manager.
Is possible for them to have more ways to advertise in their countries(Texas and Italy), maybe there I would hear a radio ad or see a poster. Who knows.

 PR

Is such a good things to be a fan of those guys below. I didn't know they will perform on SXSW but in  forms of posts on Facebook and Tweeter, Iggy, Sam and London Grammar announced shows and at the same time advertise the Event- how nice of them :D of course I am not forgetting that permormers advertise themselfs as well as the event.

My problem with Carnival, what I have  mentioned before, is language. I do not know Italian and it seems like their relation with public limited to the Italian audiance. such a shame. I would love to know what they posted but I will not translate every sentance. c'mon !

CARNIVAL OF VENICE- sponsors

Sonsors of Carnivale di Venezia 2014

1. Citia di Venezia - office of the Venice .

2. Casino di Venezia- casino.

3.Venezi@ Opportunita-  creates a connective tissue that bears benefit to all the actors of the local economy.

4. ARGENTA- distribution of automatic and semi-automatic also connected with Espresso House. In 2012 a turnover of 200 million euros.

5. TELECOM-  the internet, phones,  cubovion; service and distribution.

6.  MUVE- Museum in Venice- exhibition place.

7. HELLO Venezia - conection between products and services aimed between the brand, the local area, citizens and tourists. provide an access to the events, public transport and tickets for the customer.

8. MuranoGlass.com protects the image of Murano glass and also to guarantee to the customer the origin of the product and that it has been made using traditional artistic method.

9.  ALILAGUNA lines- public transport service in Venice.

10.  AEPE - EU organisation to keep food business in order and with tradition.

11.  ACTV- public transport service in Venice - waterbus.

12. VERITS- information- marketing organization.

13. Expo Venice- main organiser of fair events in the Lagoon City.

14. Padova Fierecreating, hosting, promoting and exporting exhibitions capable of providing both innovative spaces and content.

To be honest I have never heard anything about above sponsors. Probably beacause all of them are placed in Venice. Carnival of Venice is traditional and belongs to the local comunity. It has radge wide of events sa everyone can nail something for everyone. Are events that do not need to have a ticket but there are also those more prestigious where a ticket is required. Costume of course required for even better fun.
I think most of the sponsors  did not just gave the money but offered help with organisation  site.
Target audiance for these sponsors are suitable to the event, in my opinion. Two public transport services for sure use posters or 'spread a word'  to advertise the carnival. But what I am saying? That Carnival does not need to be advertised among local or country comunity. Everyone there know exactly what, where and when ! They wait every year to expose themselfs in the beautiful and  various styles parades.

As far as I know Venetians want to be an independent country but disscussions is still going between them and the Italian Goverment. That is why most sponsors are Venetian comapny.

Unfortunately none of the these sponsors have not mentions a word about the Carnival on their websites where SXSW's ones have.
For me as a foreign SXSW sponsors are more available and familiar, what makes me trust the event organisation and facilities site more than Carnival's.

SXSW- sponsors

SXSW 2014 oficiall sponsors are:

1. Sonicbids is an online platform that brings musicians together with people looking to                                                                       book or license music.

2. Deloitte offers integrated services that include AuditTaxConsulting and Corporate Finance

3. .American Expressa global services company that provides customers with access to products, insights and experiences that enrich lives and build business success

5. Milller Lite- a beer brand

6. Monster Eneregy- energy drink

7. Ensurance- insurance company

8. Chevrolet- luxury car brand

9. IFC-'always on, slightly off'- uniqe, indie comedy televison

10. Subway- world famous , sandwish restaurant

11. The Austin Chronicle is an independent, locally owned and operated alternative newsweekly that reflects the heart and soul of Austin, Texas.

Personally I think that sponsors fit the event very well. Target audiance related to the products are likely to attend SXSW. The event seems to be not avaiable for everyone but for people with interest in the particular fields and from the industry, however brand such a Subway make me think that organiser target even to the 'normal people'.

Whilst doing research about any releases from sponsors about SXSW, have met a loads of them. Which is good. Almost every sponsor mentions connection with South by SouthWest Conference on the website and write a short article/note. I can assume the closer the event is  the more emails and mails are sent out by sponsors about an upcoming conference. That is how sponsor's clients will hear about the event and because SXSW is a presigious event- they will probably attend.

The fact is that only Sonicbids, IFC and The Austin Chronicle link directly to the SXSW but I am sure organisers have diferent benefits from the sponsors such as goods or services and obviously the money.

The main sponsor of SXSW Music is exactly Sonicbids itself and INTERACTIVE - Deloitte and American Express.
